Ranked top 15 on YouTube!

My video of Transformers ended the day in the top 15 on YouTube!
Impeccible voiceovers and new models made it an amazing experience.
This was by no means a one man show.
www.youtube.com/randomusprime
Where for art thou Spielbay?

Positive responses!

Wow, within the first day of posting I've gotten a bunch of positive reviews on my latest Transformers short. Usually, people just meeh and move on, but this is a first for me to have a steady flow of comments. I guess I'm on the right track. I am totally stoked.

I've been going between working on it after hours, changing my lil boy's diapers, and waiting til the wifey sleeps to work on it. I figured, ya, time to move onto other subject, but I'm jazzed. I will finish up my other project that's 80% done (non-Transformers) and possibly take my TF to the next level. Well, time to play some Ace Combat 6 and wind down my Friday night. It's been a good day.

TF2 - not by BAY

Final stretch. Audio has been completed. I just need to re-render some scenes and we are complete. I hope to post the movie tomorrow night. What is the time difference from WA to CA, MN and NY?

Animation phase complete

After weeks of procrastination:

I am proud to say animation has been completed for my second TF G1 CG short.
But I am far from done.

Now comes lighting, rendering, compositing, effects, sound, editing...

You know, the "fun" stuff. I'm shooting for mid February... wish me luck!

p.s. Paxton is taking a few steps everyday! I am a proud papa. :)

Good feelings

I just gotta say, I love my son, I love my wife. My job is great. I can't believe he's going to be one year old next month. Time flies. As much as I love to see him learn new things and do cool things like clapping, laughing, and trying to stand up, it's just so fast. I can remember his head being so tiny, his immobility, his chubby fingers. <sigh> Thank goodness for digital cameras, but man, it's going by so fast. He literally goes bonkers when I come home and crawls over to me frantically. What a great feeling.

Man, it's been tough trying to get my next Transformers CG short done.
But after getting some much needed rest, I am up late making some animations!
Um, that's all I have to write, cuz I got more animation to do. :)

Sitrep

Well, here comes Halloween. My little boy is going to be the Man of Steel this year. But of course, looking for the classic costume was a chore. After seeing all of the Superman Returns costumes back on sale for full price on the rack, I finally found ONE REAL SUPERMAN costume. I immediately picked it up. What's urking me? It's the fact that those crappy Superman Returns costumes are still in circulation. Burn the remainders already, don't try to pan off those rejected costumes as new stock. Seriously, makes me want to barf. And speaking of barfing, Bayformers came out on DVD. No, I didn't buy it, I'm just glad it came out.

"Did you just say you're glad?" Yes, glad that we can finally stop hearing about it. The movie sucked, the DVD sucks, Bay sucks. And speaking of Transformers (you like how I segue?)...

My second G1 battle short is in the works. It's been slow going recently, due to my work schedule, and my wife and lil boy getting sick. Only the chosen ones have been sent the teaser image. Have you seen it? Are you intrigued? Well, I'm going to do a bit more then hit the sack. Work's been busy, it's a good thing. :)

G1-er? F--- yeah!

So, as inspiration hit me, I've got another Transformers G1 battle in the works.

I got a teaser image I'm working on, too.
Pretty damn funny, at least I think so.

Well, the first part is done, model the vehicle.
Next is robot parts, then rigging, then animating.

Of course, then there's also modeling the opponent(s).
Who might it be? Might be a they in there.

Stay tuned. This will take a few weeks to finish and edit.

Masterpiece Megatron - scary business

Well, my wife said that the big gun in my Transformers display didn't match my robots. Then I told her it also transformed into the Mighty Megatron! Yes, I have the Masterpiece Megatron from Japan! It only took me an hour to transform. I had to look at the instructions in reverse and man, no English, vague diagrams, and sweat dripping onto my pricey toy... I mean collector's item...

After finally figuring out the arm/shoulder joints, I realised again why I had him in gun form... he is NOT stable as a standing robot! If we were in CA, earthquake country, I'd be worried. Well, I'm still worried. Maybe I will put a bunch of padding on the floor in case he falls. Why Takara? Why not make display stand for Meg like you did for your fragile and unstable Starscream Masterpiece?! The world may never know... but one thing I do know if that bastard falls and breaks, I'll be hella pissed!

Moved in!

Man, what an adventure. I got all three of us settled into our new place. My parents came up to help. I have to say, I don't miss our home of two + years, that apartment in Bellevue. We have dubbed the bonus room the media room... we should call it the ME-dia room since I got all my toys, models, and game systems all in one kick ass Batcave! My wife warns me not to let any of my collection into the rest of the house. I guess she doesn't think that Street Fighter models belong in the dining room? What's wrong with that? Anyway, one last thing and we are free, we must do final steam cleaning of the carpet and clean the stove of the old place and then we are 100% homebodies! Now if I could only lower my mortgage...

Missing my old friend, Frank

My friend passed away just this past January 2007. He was a really great guy, caring, generous, and funny. Frank was only 32 years old. He and his wife helped me and my wife through some rough times with their encouragement and food (they invited us over a lot). He had always wanted to get into the video game industry and I finally found an opening for him.

But during those last weeks in December, as he was preparing his artwork, he told me he wasn't feeling well. I told him to take a break. And that was it, the next thing I knew, I got a phone call that he fell into a coma. Man, I miss hearing his jokes and just talking art stuff.

It's sad, he and his wife were planning on having a baby this year, too. Just last year, my wife gave birth to our cute lil boy, we wish he could have met his Uncle Frankie, we don't have words to describe our sorrow...

Hm... just had to write about it because it's on my mind... it's 2am now, I have to sleep, need to go to work...

Optimizing my Prime

Man, I can't escape it. I keep telling myself, "walk away, it's done, walk away", but I can't. I need to revisit my 3D Optimus Prime model and make him better looking. Detail him out, "optimize" his mesh, make him kick ass. Stay tuned...
